Hi, I am David Cane. I have been an educator for 22 years and an online marketer for 20 years.
You can contact me here: [david] [at] [davidcane] [dotcom]. I’d love to hear from you if you have questions or comments.
I have been blessed to be able to help shape young minds and to visit some exciting places.
I have posted pictures below of myself and some of my college and primary school students during my tenure in the PRC.
Plus, a photo of me in one of my travels in Ang Thong National Marine Park, Ko Samui, Thailand, holding on for dear life:)
One of the things I quickly realized when I started my teaching career was the need to supplement my income if I wanted to support my family and have some fun in life.
In 2005, I turned to online marketing to earn some extra cash.
My journey began as a blogger/affiliate marketer (selling other people’s products) and then as a domainer (selling domain names).
I have had some highs and lows in both areas and have learned some valid lessons I should have implemented or heeded early on but eventually did.
Here are my most important lessons.
First lesson: Start building a list.
From early in your online marketing journey, start building a list of subscribers who may be interested in the content and product you are promoting.
Build a mutually beneficial relationship with your subscribers by informing and motivating them to make educated decisions regarding their goals.
If you do that correctly, your earnings ought to improve, and you could potentially help your subscribers earn more.
It still amazes me that I ignored such a basic tenet of internet marketing for so long. Do not make this rudimentary mistake.
My coach offers a 6-month coaching program that builds you a starter list and shows you how to grow and monetize it for maximum profit.

Second lesson: Run your race.
Do you know the reasons why horses have blinkers in races?
One reason is to ensure that they can focus on what is ahead and not be consumed by where the other horses are.
It would help if you had the same focus.
There are several opportunities in Internet marketing.
It is easy to fall into the trap of buying opportunity after opportunity in search of easy money, only to fail to make any.
Looking at other people’s success and thinking you can never be as good as them at online marketing is almost as bad and sometimes worse.
So, focus on yourself, stick to one opportunity, and give it your all.
And back yourself even when people or circumstances suggest you cannot make it.
Third Lesson: Keep it simple to start
As my grandpa used to say – there is more than one way to skin a cat.
But most people want a proven, easy-to-start, low-cost opportunity to earn a second income.
That is it – nothing complex or too risky to scare them.
I have found such an opportunity that you can take advantage of in your spare time.
It is perfect for retirees or anyone who is technically challenged.

Fourth Lesson: Have patience
You need to be at peace with where you are and realize that it typically takes patience and consistent effort to make a second income you would be happy with.
You are where you are. There is no sense in beating yourself down for past mistakes.
It is also not productive to feel like a failure because you only made a couple of dollars online when you are early in your online journey.
Fast money does exist, but typically, the risks are very high.
What you want to do is start moving forward today with a proven but low-risk opportunity.

Fifth lesson: Do not wait to be perfect to start your online business.
Overcoming perfectionism is a crucial step in just starting an online business, let alone working on one.
I’ve faced this challenge, and I’ve come to understand that it’s often the mind’s way of resisting change.
You can take the first step toward your entrepreneurial journey by acknowledging this fact and pushing past it.
The first website I ever built was crude, yet it earned commissions.
It was nothing life-changing, but it was a start.
It proved that I did not need to know everything or have a big budget to start earning online.
This low barrier to entry means that anyone, regardless of their financial situation, can take the first step towards starting an online business.
But if you want to ramp things up, getting a reputable coach to guide you in building a profitable long-term online business is a great way to accelerate your progress.
Sixth Lesson: Get a coach.
If it is within your budget, hiring a coach can help you reach higher income goals much faster.
The coach must also be successful, reputable, have a proven track record of helping others, and highly responsive to your questions.
My coach, John Wilson, is all those things.
His six-month coach program is very easy to follow too.
His program is perfect for retirees or anyone who wants to ignore the noise and focus on simple yet proven activities to make consistent money online.
If his price is out of your range, financing options are available if you qualify.
Check out his coaching program here.
